Comets, Meteors, and Asteroids (Pacific St Charter School 8th Grade)

This is a 2 hour outreach program being given to the 8th graders at Pacific St Charter School in Placerville, CA. Students will discuss and learn about the difference between comets, meteors, and asteroids, build comet models from water and dry ice and through active learning exercises understand concepts such as meteor showers, etc.

Program delivered by SS4S Director Frank Dibbell.

The Sun (Pacific St Charter School 8th Grade)

This is a 2 hour outreach program being given to the 8th graders at Pacific St Charter School in Placerville, CA. During this program the students will get to view the sun through an approved optical telescope, learn about the composition of the sun, make sundials and learn how to tell time by the sun, and learn about the importance of the Earth-Sun relationship in creating Earth's seasons. Additionally they will plot solar motion across the sky and perform other activities involving solar models. Program delivered by SS4S Director Frank Dibbell

The Solar System (Pacific St Charter School - 8th Grade)

This is a 2 hour outreach program being given to the 8th graders at Pacific St Charter School in Placerville, CA. During this program the students will model the solar system, both in size and distance. Students will work in teams and learn about comparative planetology.
