Family AstroAstronomy Activities and Events for the Whole FamilyWelcome to the Web pages for Family ASTRO, a national program of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, to bring hands-on astronomy activities and astronomy events to families of all backgrounds. The program is highly developed and supported by trained staff, quality materials and kits with programming at 16 sites around the country. Space Science for Schools provides families with student children over 5 years of age with Family ASTRO Star Explorer Camps and Mini-Camps geared to interactive learning and fun with science experiments provided by expert teachers certified by the Astronomical Society of the Pacific.
2008 Family ASTRO Star Explorer Camp Schedule: July 11-13, August 1-3, October 10-12 at the Sierra Club operated famous rustic Clair Tappaan Lodge located near Donner Summit in Norden, California. Our Family ASTRO Star Explorer MINI-Camps operate as a day camp experience on August 9 and September 13 at the Sky Tavern Ski and Conference Center on Mt. Rose Highway 5 miles south of Galena and only 20 minutes from Downtown Reno.
